Happy St. Patrick's Day!

We heard a leprechaun was spotted in the school today, so we quickly built a trap using shaving cream and glitter (hoping to trick him into thinking it was clouds and gold). We did not catch the leprechaun, but he did leave us some gold treats!🍀💰

Kindergarten had a great week preparing for 🍀St. Patrick's Day🍀 and searching our room for tricky words. We also had a visit from Alexis Brown, who performed her state speech piece for us. We loved it! Good luck, Alexis!💙💛

At WHS today - 24 juniors took the ACT test to help prepare for their futures. The test comprised of English, Math, Reading, and Science. The ACT is the nation's most widely accepted college entrance exam. This test will help guide our graduates toward college and career readiness. The results of this test will help the school determine ways to improve our curriculum and learning for all students.

Daily Announcements
Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP) is coming soon! Students in grades 3-11 will take ISASP tests in reading, language/writing, math, and science (grades 5, 8, and 10 only). Students in grades 6-11 will test Monday, March 31st - Friday, April 4th. Students will test in their AAT groups. They will test first thing each morning that week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday). Elementary students will be testing April 14-25. Classroom teachers will set their test schedules and communicate that with families as the time nears. The ISASP website has test preparation materials students will be exploring at school, but can also practice at home. Go to Iowa.pearsonaccess.com and click on Test Preparation for more information. It is important that students attend school during testing, arrive on time, get a good night's sleep, eat a healthy breakfast and have their Chromebook charged each day. If you have any questions about ISASP, please reach out to Mrs. Shannon Salazar (shannon.salazar@wapellocsd.org).

It looks like winter weather is safely in our rearview mirror. I really hope I didn't just curse us! So, we are now needing to make some adjustments to make up for our missed time due to missed days and late starts. We are going to take four Wednesdays and convert them to full days. Those Wednesdays will be: March 19, March 26, May 7, and May 14. In addition, April 21 will now be a student day, which puts our final student day for the year at May 27.
