Did you know Friedrich Fröbel, a German educator, founded the very first kindergarten in Blankenburg, Germany, in 1837. He believed in nurturing young children's natural curiosity through play, music, and nature. WES kindergarteners celebrated World Kindergarten Day and Earth Day this week with music, hands-on activities, lots of play, and cleaning up our environment. 🌏🌳

Wapello MS/HS Plans "My Hometown Day" Activities for Community Service

Wapello Middle School/High School students are gearing up for a special day of community service on Wednesday, April 29th, as they participate in “My Hometown Day” activities. The event aims to give back to the local communities of Wapello, Morning Sun, Cairo, and Oakville, with students engaged in cleanup efforts throughout these areas.

Students will spend the day working on various tasks such as picking up trash, raking leaves, and sprucing up public parks and roadways. The initiative is part of a broader effort to honor “Earth Day” by contributing to the maintenance and beauty of the surrounding communities.

In addition to public spaces, the students are also offering their assistance to individuals who may need help with yard work. Whether it’s raking leaves or tidying up outdoor spaces, this service is being provided at no charge to residents.
Community members with projects that need attention are encouraged to contact the Wapello High School office at 319-523-3241 to arrange for students to assist.

The service project is a wonderful example of the school's commitment to fostering civic responsibility and environmental stewardship among our students.

Happy Sunny Tuesday!

I think it's safe to say we won't have any more snow days this year, which means...

The final day of school will be May 28th, with kids being dismissed at 11:15.

May 27th will now be a FULL day of school.
