April 27, 2020 update (continued):
***Principal Nagle has put together a plan for elementary students to get their belongings. Classroom teachers will be bagging up individual student's belongings. Families will then be assigned a time span to come pick up the belongings. Pickup will be Monday, May 4th. Parents will pull in to the bus lane, entering from the west. Someone will go get the pre-packed items and bring them to you. There is no completely smooth way to get this done, so thank you, in advance, for your patience with this. If your last names starts with A-D, your time is 8:00-8:45. E-K will be 8:45-9:30. L-P will be 9:30-10:15. Q-S will be 10:15-10:45. T-Z will be 11:45-12:30. If these times do not work for you, please contact the elementary school to make alternate arrangements.
***A pickup schedule for the secondary building will be coming in the next couple days.

April 27, 2020 Update:
***Governor Reynolds has taken steps to start "opening up" portions of the state. However, Louisa County is not one of those areas. As of now, the restrictions for Louisa County and other areas with high case numbers remain in place. She did say that May 15 would, hopefully, see another round of openings. An exception to this is worship services. Churches are now able to have worship services, regardless of county, provided social distancing guidelines are still followed.
***Remember that breakfast and lunch pickups are Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:00 each day. This is available for anyone aged 0-19, even if you don't go to school in Wapello.
***Wash your hands.
Cover your cough.
Wash your hands.
Stay home. Stay home. Stay home.
Wash your hands.
If you absolutely must go somewhere, practice social distancing.
Wash your hands.

While in high school Eryka has participated in Softball and NHS for two years, while spending all four years in Cross-Country, Basketball, Track, Band, and Student Council (class officer). Eryka's future plans include attending the University of Iowa to study Pharmacy. As we did before, we asked the Senior to name a teacher/staff member who had an impact on their lives while in school. Eryka named Mr. Brandon Brown for this because, "[he] has been very influential in my life through academics and sports. He helped me learn a lot about history by providing an opportunity for me to experience the holocaust in person. He traveled with me and my classmates to Europe and gave us an experience that left a life lasting impression. Mr. Brown also had a major impact on my senior basketball season. His positive attitude and encouragement gave me the confidence I needed to reach many goals throughout the season. He built a great relationship with me and helped me through many challenges during the season as well. I am appreciative of the many ways he influenced my life in high school." When asked her advice for underclassmen, Eryka said "Don’t take a single day of high school for granted. Make the best of everyday with your friends and classmates because you never know when it maybe your last." Congratulations and best wishes to Eryka as she graduates from WHS with the class of 2020. #WeAreWapello #WapelloTribePride #classof2020

April 23, 2020 Update:
Happy Thursday, everyone!
Teachers are going to be calling students and their families in the near future. In fact, some of these calls probably started today. The goal is to keep in contact with students and find out how we can better meet educational needs. If your family hasn't been contacted, you will be in the near future.
We've noticed an increase in Zoom meeting attendance today. This is a great thing to see and this trend needs to continue. Governor Reynolds closed school buildings. She did not close school.
Today's reminder will be presented to you today in Pig Latin. Enjoy.

Between meetings, zoom sessions, and the craziness that we are now all a part of, we failed to recognize our outstanding Administrative Professionals yesterday. These ladies are instrumental in making sure our buildings operate on a daily basis. Without their hard work and dedication, we would be at a loss. Thank you to Rae, Phyllis, and Kenna for all that you do on a daily basis for the students and staff at the Wapello Community School District! Please help us to thank these three amazing Administrative Professionals that the district is lucky to have!
