2021 Senior Spotlight: Monday’s third Senior Spotlight is John Caden Thomas. Caden is the son of Chris and Allisen Thomas. Caden has been involved in the NHS for two years, and Football, Basketball and Track for four years. He’s also been a member of the FCA Chapter for four years. After graduation, Caden plans to attend college to become a Diesel Mechanic. When asked who has impacted him most while in high school, he cited Mr. Parsons, because “He saw the athletic potential I had and always pushed me to become better.” His advice to underclassmen is “A bad attitude is like a flat tire can’t go anywhere till you change it.” Good advice from a soon to be graduate. Best of luck to Caden as he goes forward from WHS.

2021 Senior Spotlight: Today’s second Senior Spotlight is to Claire LeAnne Hoeg. She is the daughter of Chris and Kelli Hoeg. While in school, Claire has been a Student Council member for one year, spent two years on the Cross-Country team and NHS for two years, and Poms, Soccer, Band, Choir, Speech, Drama and FFA all four years. She was also a member of the Color Guard for five years. Claire’s future plans include attending the University of Northern Iowa to pursue a degree in Business and Administration. The “dynamic duo” of Mr. and Mrs. Peck is who Claire says has made the greatest impact in her life. This is because “They set out to be advocates for their students and I can't think of another set of teachers that do a better job of not only standing up for us, but standing up for what is right. I cannot thank them enough for all of the extra time they spent on me, critiquing and correcting my musical skills until they were happy with the result. They introduced me to one of the things I love the most: Music. It makes me so sad that in the years to come, I will not start my days with listening to their positive comments and seeing their encouraging smiles during band practice. The art of music and positivity that they have ingrained into my brain has also been ingrained into my heart and will never be forgotten. Thank you both for standing up for your students and creating a safe space for anyone and everyone. Thank you for the music, for giving it to me. :)”. Her advice for underclassmen is “Jesus loves you more than anything. Put your faith in him because he is the only solid rock in your life. Never let anyone tell you that you can't do something because you are too small, too weak, too awkward, or too weird. Embrace those things about you and persevere anyway. Be bold. Work hard (Because trust me that is the only way you will ever be successful) Keep going even when the going gets hard. It's worth it, trust me”. Good luck to Claire on her upcoming graduation.

2021 Senior Spotlight: May 10th Senior Spotlight kicks off with Chase Thomas Witte. He is the son of Corina and Thad Witte. Chase has been involved in Football for one year, NHS for two years, and Wrestling for four and will have competed in Baseball for five years. After graduation, Chase plans to attend Northwest Community College to become a lineman. When asked which teacher has impacted him the most, he said Mr. Dunham and Mrs. Marshall because “they both taught me life lessons I will use.” Chase’s advice for underclassmen is “work hard”. Congratulations to Chase on his impending graduation.
