Today's Staff Feature Friday shines the spotlight on our Wapello JR/SR High Reading Teacher, Mrs. Shannon Salazar. Mrs. Salazar also serves as the 6-12 Instructional Coach.
Mrs. Salazar's family includes her husband Todd, and her three daughters Emma, Peyton, and Kensley. Mrs. Salazar is in her 18th year in education, with the last 13 of those years being here at Wapello. Mrs. Salazar came to Wapello with five years of teaching experience in other districts.
Mrs. Salazar holds an undergraduate degree from Coe College in Elementary Education with reading, social studies, & coaching endorsements. Mrs. Salazar also holds a Masters of Teaching with her Instructional Strategist I Endorsement from Morningside College.
In her spare time, you can find Mrs. Salazar keeping up with her children's activities, being outside, spending time with her family and friends, and when she can find any extra spare time, she will be reading a good book.
When we asked Mrs. Salazar what she likes best about working at the Wapello Community School District, she had this to say, "I like how everyone knows everyone. Even if a student is not in my class, I know who they are and am still an active part of their education. The relationships we can develop at a small school are priceless."
Congratulations, Mrs. Salazar, on being selected for our Staff Feature Friday spotlight! Check back next week for another staff member to be featured!
