Today, for our Staff Feature Friday, we spotlight our Superintendent of Schools, Superintendent Mike Peterson!
Mr. Peterson's family includes his wife, Molly, who teaches at Columbus Community Schools as well as his children, Maggie, a senior at Mount Mercy University, and son Matthew, a Junior at Wapello High School.
Mr. Peterson holds undergraduate degrees from the University of Minnesota in English and Political Science. He also holds a Masters of Science in Educational Leadership from Minnesota State University as well as a Specialist in Educational Leadership, also from Minnesota State University. Mr. Peterson has a combined 25 years of experience in the educational field. He begins his 9th year at Wapello this fall.
In his spare time, you will find Mr. Peterson reading, baking, or working in his yard.
When asked what he likes best about working for the Wapello Community School District, he had this to say:
"I am so thankful for the opportunities that my children have had thanks to the faculty and staff of Wapello CSD. In both academics and extra-curricular, they have had the chance to explore and grow in ways that I know are not available everywhere. Wapello is a place where everyone is welcome and accepted, whether you are a lifelong resident or a transplant from somewhere else. I am proud to be a part of the Wapello CSD family, and I am proud of the work we do for kids!
Congratulations to Mr. Peterson for being selected for today's Staff Feature Friday. Make sure to check back next Friday to see who we spotlight for the next installment of our Staff Feature Friday!
